Oldest Living Star, Almost 101
The oldest living star in the universe is known as SMSS J031300.36−670839.3, and it is estimated to be almost 13.5 billion years old, just a few hundred million years younger than the universe itself. This ancient star was discovered by astronomers using the SkyMapper telescope at the Siding Spring Observatory in Australia. The star is located in the Milky Way galaxy, about 6,000 light-years away from Earth. Studying such ancient stars can provide valuable insights into the early stages of the universe and the formation of the first generations of stars.
